Every year the world population grows according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) with more than 50 million people. That’s where the 50 in our name stands for. For 2050 the FAO forecasts a world population of over 10 billion people. Feeding the growing world population with tasty, healthy & safe food within the limitations of available crop land, water and energy, is a major challenge.
GreenFood50 is currently executing an EU funded Quinnova project. This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 868154. The Quinnova project aims at unlocking the potential of EU cultivated quinoa through the production of protein-rich quinoa flour and functional quinoa starch. See Quinnova project for more info.
